Is Nest a terminal or a coding agent?
Nest is a native Mac workspace. It brings terminals and existing coding agents together with browser and desktop panes. You keep using each agent’s own account and permissions.
What happens when I close a tab?
Closing a terminal tab detaches its view. The underlying tmux process can keep running on its station. Ending a terminal is a separate action. A station reboot ends its running processes.
Do I need Tailscale?
No. Nest connects over SSH and can discover stations from your SSH configuration or Tailscale. The station still needs to be reachable and allow your SSH login.
Where does my work run?
Terminals and agents run on the station you choose. Browser pages use your Mac’s network. Desktop views connect to the selected station’s existing VNC server.
What will my Nest account sync?
The cloud service is being prepared to sync workspace metadata, station references, and saved setups. SSH keys, terminal output, agent credentials, and browser cookies remain on your devices. Opening work on another Mac is explicit.
Is it free?
Nest is launching as a free beta. Your agent subscriptions, model usage, and remote machines remain separate.
